At JTW Families Together we recognise that as we face the climate and nature emergencies, anxiety and uncertainty about our children’s future can sometimes feel overwhelming.

We are a group of parents, grandparents and carers, under the Just Transition Wakefield umbrella, who are trying to answer the question “What does it take to raise resilient children in the face of the climate emergency?”.

We all want to leave our children a safe and healthy world. But the climate emergency and the crisis in nature means they’ll inherit a more dangerous planet, through no fault of their own.

Knowing what actions to take to secure our children’s future can feel like a massive task and finding a space to hold the emotional load can be difficult.

At JTW Families Together we hope to:

  • Provide a safe space for sharing feelings about raising a family during the climate emergency
  • Find ways to create practical and emotional resilience for the future of our children
  • Practice active hope – turn anxiety into action, beginning with honouring our feelings and connecting to gratitude
  •  Share practices and ideas which remind us that we are resourceful, adaptable and together  – finding ways to grow our capacity and resilience to act for positive change
