Youth Voice: Speaking up for the Planet
Across the region Young people have been calling for action on the Climate. Greta Thunberg has spoken for the next generations, that we need to do our homework, listen to the science and take action to reduce Greenhouse gas emissions.
In this workshop we will hear from a range of young people from right across the region, who need us to listen , their future is in our hands. We will see how young people are using the new technologies to reach out further, to engage with a wider public… “One to One Development Trust are working with young people from across Wakefield District to design, produce and market a new multiplatform game about the importance of protecting the environment and raising awareness of climate change. In this presentation the game developers and young people talk about the game, the creative process of making it and why game development is one way of influencing positive action. The project is funded by Wakefield Council’s Creative Challenge”. We will hear from Regional Youth Climate Action who will be linking with Yorkshire and Humber Climate commissioners to make sure young people’s voices are heard. We are using youth voice to tell those in power what we believe they should be doing to fulfil their duty to protect us and our future; from climate education to green jobs, with a new green age creating a better society.
